SealReliability Seal reliability is a fundamental require- ment. All Tentec tensioners have polyurethane self-energising lip seals requiring no adjustment. The seals snap fit into the piston housing, remain firm and will not dislodge and cause failure after prolonged use. As the seals are machined and not moulded, size is not restricted, allowing no compromise in tensioner design.
The TENTEC seal exhibits a much lower coefficient of friction than nitrile seals used in many other hydraulic bolt tensioning tools. This benefit, in conjunction with a s pecial anti-extrusion device, allows the tool piston/ ram to be returned to its closed position with minimal effort.

Tentec Nuts replace existing hexagon nuts to give a rapid, accurate and uniform Bolt load to any bolted joint. The Tentec Nut offers a method of bolt tensioning multi-bolt applications which greatly improves the integrity of the joint. The speed in which joints can be tensioned and detensioned shows an extraordinary time saving over conventional detachable bolt tensioning systems. Hydraulic pressure is applied simultaneously to each Tentec Nut. All frictional factors connected with conventional bolt tightening methods are alleviated since Tentec Nuts apply a direct axial force to the bolt which generates a bolt elongation.This elongation/tension is permanently retained by means of the load retaining collar.
Tentec Nuts have been designed to be as compact as possible, in order to allow adjacent fitment on as many applications as possible. In most cases they are designed to produce a residual bolt stress of 45000 lbs/In2 (310N/mm2) which is more than adequate for most bolted joint applications. As pressure is applied to the Tentec Nuts not only does the bolt elongate but also joint compression occurs.
Since many applications incorporate some form of gasket, this joint compression can be substantial, in order to withstand this joint compression all Tentec Nuts are capable of considerable piston movement. This allows the Tentec Nuts, in most cases, the ability to tension a complete joint in only one pressurisation sequence, this can result in extremely high time savings

The Segmented Multi Stud Tensioning System (MSTS) is a portable system designed to simultaneously tension all studs on system closures such as steam generator primary and secondary manways, handwheel and valve covers. This state-of-the-art system applies a predictable and accurate preload to all studs simultaneously, thus eliminating the problems normally associated with conventional torque tightening techniques, for example: uneven gasket preloads resulting in closure leakage, galling, broken fasteners, etc.
The MSTS enables the installation and removal of system closures to be completed rapidly in high radiation areas. Therefore, its application is also consistent with meeting ALARA objectives.

One of the many advantages of hydraulic bolt tensioning, is the ability to link a number of tensioners together and load simultaneously all the bolts on a joint. Although this gives excellent load distribution, an enormous variety of flexible hose assemblies are necessary - which confuse the user. To overcome this problem TENTEC offer a single assembly called a Link hose. This length of flexible high pressure hose, fitted with male and female quick connect couplings at opposite ends is fast and an economi-cal method of connecting multiple tensioners together - the number of hoses required is the same as the number of tools to be linked - a simple formula to remember
